For my art challenge, I choose the challenge yourself. I choose this
because I am not the best at drawing and I wanted to improve my
skills. So at first I was going to do a landscape drawing, but change
to drawing a horse going over a jump. Since I couldn't draw anything,
I got a picture of me jumping on my riding instructor's horse. This
is the picture I used.

I got a picture of me jumping on my riding instructor's horse. This

Then I downloaded the picture into an app called Sketchbook. I traced
the outline of Clifford(the horse), the jump, the saddle and saddle
pad, and the rider. I used different colors for each object of the
picture. My goal was to get a feel for the lines and how they all
connected. I eventually did get better, but it took awhile.

After I got decent at drawing this scene, I bought some canvas and
started to sketch it out on that. I used a lot of eraser to get it
the way I wanted it to look. It looked too empty with just the horse,
jump, and rider so I added a hill and fence in the background, like in
the original picture. I thought about adding a quote, but dropped
that idea later.

Now it was time it start painting. I started with the hill. It took
a couple of coats to get all the brush strokes away. Then I painted
the fence, and the ground. I also painted the sky around this time.
Once this was dry, I started painting the horse, saddle and bridle,
and the rider. I think the rider was the hardest for me just because
of my drawing skills before this project.

So this is my final picture. I am really proud of how well I did on it and how much my skills have improved. I learned more about the different perspectives that can be in one picture or painting.
